Spring is here and it means trade fair weekend in Maidstone.
The Maidstone Chamber of Commerce's 28th Annual Trade Fair will run April 14 and 15 at the arena.
Saturday the show will be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The hours for Sunday are 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $3 per day. Children 12 and under are free and will receive a free bowling pass good only on Saturday.
A concession will run all weekend and there will be a refreshment area upstairs. Sunday morning there will be a pancake breakfast in the rink kitchen from 9 a.m. until noon.
The entertainment stage will feature Twink-elle the Clown at 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday and the Yellowhead Ramblers at 4 p.m. On Sunday the High School Rock Band will perform at 12:30 p.m. followed by the Class of 2012 Slave Auction with Cal Donald.
At 2:30 p.m. members of the Maidstone School of Dance will take the stage.
A silent auction benefitting the Maidstone Historical Society will fill the upper viewing area.
One of the highlights of the show will be the RCMP rollover simulator and the door prize is a propane patio heater and a folding table and chair set.
The show promises something for everyone with health and beauty, home and garden, and sports and leisure displays. There will be community groups including the MHS SADD group, the Girl Guides and the Lloydminster Air Cadets operating booths and a community registration table so people can sign up their families for spring activities.
The Maidstone Quilting Squares are holding their quilt show with the same hours at the Maidstone Legion Hall with a separate admission charge of $3.
Organizer of the trade fair Leanne Doud says there are several new exhibitors this year.
"We're really excited to showcase what the area has to offer Maidstone," she said.
