After the success of Operation Fall Frenzy, which saw the police issue over 1,000 tickets, the SGI released information about last week's safety blitz entitled Operation Hang Up, Buckle Up.
Over Nov. 14 and 15, law enforcement were on the lookout for motorists not wearing seatbelts, wearing seatbelts improperly or using a handheld cellphone or texting while driving.
Province-wide, a total of 158 tickets were issued, including 58 for improper seatbelt use, 35 for cellphone use and 35 for speeding. Law enforcement notes, however, that enforcement efforts were hampered by weather and driving conditions.
