The man charged in the Travelodge murder case will see his matters come up at North Battleford provincial court in a month.
Nicholas Clifford Giroux, 35, appeared in Saskatoon provincial court Friday morning facing a charge of second-degree murder.
His matters were adjourned and a show-cause hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 6 back in North Battleford. He is to return to court in Saskatoon this week for two separate unrelated assault charges.
Giroux was charged with murder following the early-morning stabbing death of Thang Sian Mang, age 20, at the Travelodge Hotel on 101st Street last Monday shortly after 4 a.m.
Additional details have emerged about Giroux and his connections to gangs and the drug trade.
A number of media organizations, including CBC and the StarPhoenix, are reporting that Giroux is a known leading member of the Terror Squad, an aboriginal street gang. He was previously sentenced for cocaine trafficking in 2011.
As well, media organizations in Saskatoon are reporting Giroux made his initial court appearances with his hands wrapped in bandages - an indication it was Giroux himself who was the injured party found inside the Travelodge lobby by police last Monday morning.
Giroux was later charged and remanded to Saskatoon, where he made his initial court appearances. Reports are Giroux's appearances in Saskatoon provincial court were held there in order to accommodate surgery for him in that locale.
Both Giroux and the homicide victim are from Saskatoon, according to police.
