Truck robbery sends victim to hospital with injuries

Battlefords RCMP responded to over 60 calls for service from 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3 to 6 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, including the following:

Friday, Feb. 3

12:00 p.m. - Summer Starchief,16, reported missing from Red Pheasant First Nation. She has brown hair, brown eyes, wears glasses. It is not known what she was wearing. Police are awaiting a photograph of Summer Starchief to release to the public.

12:24 p.m. - Report of shoplifting from a business on 1st Avenue in Battleford. 

4:25 p.m. - Steven Parkhurst, 17, reporting missing from Ross Crescent in North Battleford. Subject has brown hair and blue eyes, is about 5'9" and weighs approximately 225 lbs. He was last seen some time on Jan. 28.

450 p.m. - Two-vehicle collision at Territorial Drive North and 100th Street intersection in North Battleford. A northbound vehicle lost control, left the main driving lane and struck a vehicle that was stopped for a red light at the intersection. Both vehicles sustained damage and had to be towed from the scene and there were some traffic delays for approximately an hour while the scene was cleared. The driver of the northbound vehicle was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries. Initial investigation indicates the injured driver may have been experience a medical issue which contributed to the collision. The second driver did not sustain any injuries.

9:09 p.m. - A 28-year-old male was arrested and charged with Assault and Mischief after a reported altercation at a residence on Panton Avenue in North Battleford. 

11:54 p.m. - Report of a break and enter to a residence on St. Laurent Drive in North Battleford.

Saturday, Feb. 4

12:26 a.m. - Report of a robbery on the 1600 block of 100th Street. Police advised of an injured male who was attacked by at least two suspects who fled the scene with the victim's truck. The suspects were reported to be armed with a knife and a suspected firearm. The male victim sustained multiple injuries in the attack from a knife or other edged weapon and was transported to hospital for treatment. He is currently stable, however, the extent of his injuries is still not fully known at this time. Police located the stolen vehicle being operated south of North Battleford and recovered it on the Red Pheasant First Nation. Three suspects were taken into custody shortly after 4 a.m. with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit after the vehicle attempted to evade a police stop and the truck became stuck in some deep snow.  A pellet gun was recovered in the vehicle at time of the arrest. Police have a 19-year-old male, 17-year-old male and a 13-year-old female in custody at this time. The matter remains under investigation and charges are expected to be laid later today. 

2:42 a.m. - Report of a male suspect approaching another male on 107th Street and holding a knife up near the victim's stomach and threatening him. The victim was not injured in the altercation. A 19-year-old male was located and arrested without incident and remains in custody. Charges of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose are pending and the subject will be remanded into custody later today until his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday, Feb. 6 at 9:30 a.m.
