A Turtleford RCMP member faces a court date after a complaint about excessive force.
Cst. Kelly Brennan, 42, of St. Walburg has been charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm. He has been served a summons and will appear in St. Walburg court March 20.
Brennan remains on active duty, but is facing an internal RCMP code of conduct investigation.
The complaint stems from an on-duty incident from April 17, 2011 that was alleged to have occurred during the processing of a prisoner at the Turtleford detachment.
An investigation commenced at that time and upon completion was forwarded to the Saskatchewan Public Prosecutions Office for review, after which the charges were laid.
