The 4?H lottery is a fundraiser for the 4?H program in Saskatchewan, with all lottery proceeds going directly back into the club, district and provincial levels. The fundraiser is made possible through a longstanding partnership between 4-H Saskatchewan, Yara Belle Plaine Inc. and A.E. Peacock Collegiate.
Yara has been a supporter of the Saskatchewan 4?H program since 1996 when the 4?H lottery was first started. Their support includes supplying all necessary building materials for the construction of the playhouse, as well as covering other associated lottery costs.
Woodworking students from A.E. Peacock Collegiate took on a huge challenge this past school year, constructing a playhouse replica of the Moose Jaw Civic Centre for the grand prize in. The students have put many hours into the planning and building of playhouse and have successfully demonstrated the time?tested learning process of the 4-H motto "learn to do by doing"."
In total, 14,305 lottery tickets were sold, amounting to $35,762.50 in proceeds which will be split between 4-H clubs and the provincial 4-H organization. The Saskatchewan 4?H Council portion of $18,820 goes toward supporting 4?H programs and services province?wide.
