Unusual harvesters
A group of approximately 30 Whooping Cranes, including adults and young birds, made a pitstop in the Dana region this fall. The cranes, which usually travel in family groups of two or three birds, are on their way south to Texas for the winter. There are less than 200 whooping cranes in the wild, so the group that stopped near Dana represents about one-sixth of the population.
