UPDATE: On the morning of Dec. 29, officers from the La Loche RCMP located 32-year-old Colin Evan Lemaigre at a residence in La Loche and arrested him without incident. He was wanted on warrant in relation to an incident that occurred outside of La Loche on Dec. 21 that resulted in injuries to an RCMP officer.
Lemaigre is charged with the following: assaulting a peace officer with a weapon; fail to stop when pursued by police; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; obstruct peace officer.
He made his first appearance in La Loche Provincial Court Monday morning, Dec. 30.
The officer who was injured in the incident on Dec. 21 has since returned to work.
BACKGROUND: On Dec. 21 at approximately 8 p.m., a constable from the La Loche detachment stopped a vehicle on Highway 155 south of La Loche.
While the constable was speaking with the driver and occupants of the car, the vehicle suddenly sped off. The constable was dragged for 50 to 100 metres before coming free from the vehicle and falling to the roadway.
The constable did suffer injuries. He was treated at the hospital and released.
Colin Evan Lemaigre (1987-03-09) of La Loche has been charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon along with several other charges. a warrant has been issued for his arrest as he remains at large.
The La Loche RCMP are requesting assistance from the public in this matter.
