UPDATE 2: The investigation into the death of Sheena Marie Billette continues. An autopsy was completed on Friday, Dec. 27 in Regina. Based on the results of the autopsy and information obtained during the investigation, her death has been determined to be a homicide.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit and La Ronge RCMP continue to investigate, therefore, there are no further details available at this time. Additional updates will be provided as soon as they become available.
UPDATE 1: The identity of the female victim located along Highway 102 yesterday is confirmed to be 28-year-old Sheena Marie Billettte, of La Ronge.
Billette was discovered in the early morning hours of Dec. 23 by a motorist who was travelling on Highway 102.
An autopsy will be conducted on Billette in the next few days. The Regina Major Crimes Unit South, Forensic Identification Unit and La Ronge Detachment officers continue to investigate.
Officers are working to determine all of the events over the last week of Billette’s life and are seeking information from anyone who may have known her whereabouts, activities, and interactions to assist with the investigation.

BACKGROUND: La Ronge RCMP are on a scene approximately 8 km north of La Ronge on Highway 102 where an Indigenous adult female was located deceased along the highway at approximately 5:30 a.m.
She appears to be between the ages of 20 to 30 years old with shoulder length brown hair that has slight red highlights. She is wearing a blue coloured Toronto Blue Jays hoodie and green sweatpants.
The RCMP Major Crimes Section, La Ronge RCMP, and Forensic Identification Section from Prince Albert, are all assisting with the investigation.
