Variety of alcohol-related offences reported

Between 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 and 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, North Battleford RCMP received approximately 52 calls for service.

Saturday, Aug. 22

• A vehicle on 15th Avenue was broken into overnight.

• There was a complaint regarding a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 4 south at 12:45 p.m. Officers located the vehicle, along with four intoxicated passengers and open alcohol. Two adult males were arrested; one was arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order with conditions to abstain from alcohol and the other was arrested for having outstanding warrants. The vehicle was towed from the ditch.

• There was a report of a theft from a business on the Highway 16 Bypass at 2:06 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.

• A complaint was made at 2:25 p.m. regarding a fraudulent phone call from a computer company that was requesting access to the complainant’s computer and banking information.

• There was a vehicle reported stolen at 4:30 p.m. from the 600 block of 101st Street and has not yet been recovered. It is a white 2005 Ford 500 with licence plate 578 JXA.

• Just after 5 p.m., officers were requested to attend a residence on 102nd Street to assist with an intoxicated woman that was causing problems in the home. When officers arrived, the woman had passed out and the other people in the residence no longer wanted assistance.

• There was a theft from a business on 101st Street at 5:25 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.

• An officer stopped a vehicle on 101st Street around 6 p.m. and the 32-year-old male driver appeared to be very intoxicated. He refused to provide a sample of his breath and was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample. The man was held in custody until he was sober and his vehicle was impounded.

• There was a complaint of an impaired driver on Moosomin First Nation that was driving on the wrong side of the road at 8:17 p.m. Officers located the vehicle and the driver, a 50-year-old man, was arrested and charged with impaired care or control of a motor vehicle.

• There was a report of an intoxicated male that was causing problems and urinating in public at a business on 100th Street just before 9 p.m. A 35-year-old man was arrested for being intoxicated in public and for indecent exposure and he was held in cells until he was sober.

• A vehicle caught fire on Highway 40, west of North Battleford at 10:37 p.m. and it was determined that a mechanical malfunction was the cause of the fire.

Sunday, Aug. 23

• There was a complaint at a residence on Clark Drive at 3:51 a.m. of a man that was banging on the front door, trying to get in. Officers arrested a 26-year-old man that was intoxicated and was at the wrong house. He was held in custody until he was sober to prevent any further issues.

• Someone reported that they had left their vehicle parked roadside on Moosomin First Nation last night, as it had broken down, and when she drove by the vehicle this morning, it had been burnt.

There were also four people arrested for alcohol-related offences, 14 disturbances reported, six traffic complaints, two nuisance 911 calls, and two people reported missing that have already been located.
