The Maidstone RCMP is reporting a week with 83 occurrences between April 17 and 23. Some of the most common calls received were traffic related, fire investigations and fraud.

April 17, around 3 p.m. the driver of a green 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier had parked their vehicle on RR 3241, just north of Hwy 303 as it had ran out of gas. When they returned 30 minutes following, it was observed several items had been stolen from the vehicle. This included clothing, CDs and tools. April 18, a report of a stolen 2007 blue Chevrolet Cobalt LS with Saskatchewan licence plate 702KCZ was received. The vehicle was stolen overnight from a residence in Waseca. April 18, while on patrol on township 490, the Enhanced Policing Unit located a driver who was driving while suspended and operating an unregistered pickup truck. The vehicle was impounded and the driver, a man from Lloydminster, was charged with driving while suspended and driving without registration.
April 20, a passerby alerted Police to an individual who was lying in a field just south of Lloydminster along Highway 17. The person wasn’t moving. Police attended and found a man in the field. The man was in good spirits and not in need of police or medical assistance.
April 21, two files were received regarding the Canadian Revenue Agency contacting two businesses in the town of Maidstone by phone. A man said he worked for the CRA and claimed that they owed money then demanded payment. The RCMP and CRA remind Canadians to be aware of phishing scams. The CRA will never request information from a taxpayer pertaining to a passport, health card or driver’s licence. April 22 a heavy vehicle hit a parked pilot vehicle on Highway 16 near Maidstone. Nobody was injured in the collision. The driver of the pilot vehicle has been charged for illegal parking on the highway. The investigation into the events leading up to the collision, and the actions taken by all parties immediately thereafter are still under investigation.
April 23 a group of youths were reported to be drinking and driving near Maidstone. Police located the vehicle and a road side test for impairment was completed. The youth was found to be operating while intoxicated and subsequently their licence was suspended. The youth was also charged for being a minor and in possession of beverage alcohol as well as failing to use headlights at night.
