Veterans banners raised in Battlefords again

Once again, veterans banners are flying high on the light posts of the Battlefords. The Fred Light Museum's "Honour Our Veterans" program is on for the third year in a row.

THE BATTLEFORDS - Once again, veterans banners are flying high on the light posts of the Battlefords.

The Fred Light Museum's "Honour Our Veterans" program is on for the third year in a row. Organized along with Battleford's Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 9, and North Battleford's Branch 70, the program pays tribute to our area's veterans with banners displayed on lamp posts through to Nov. 12. The banners can be seen in locations including 22nd Street in Battleford, and on 100th Street in North Battleford.

On Oct. 29, a banner unveiling ceremony was held in Battleford. Among those attending that day were Mayor Ames Leslie, Battlefords-Lloydminster MP Rosemarie Falk, Battlefords MLA Jeremy Cockrill, Bernadette Leslie of the Fred Light Museum, and Grant Beaudry, son of artist Henry Beaudry who was a veteran of the Second World War.

Henry Beaudry is one of several veterans being honoured with new banners this year.
