Senior Viking Girls' Volleyball are off to regionals this weekend in Melfort .

There are six teams competing in the Northern Girls' 5A regionals. The top three teams advance to Provincials which are held in Yorton this year.

Coach Jana Friedenstab is hopeful for a spot at this year's provincial championships.

The Vikings have a young team this year, but these girls have plenty of experience, according to Friedenstab.

Karlee Nash, who is in Grade 10, played two summers with the Saskatchewan provincial team as a setter. She has also led her club team, BVC Crush to silver and bronze provincial medals. Other Vikings who are members of BVC Crush are Jordin Wilkinson, Sarah Loy, Bailey Lamontagne and Megan Atcheynum.

Grade 10 Vikings Avari Blais, Tristen Jacobson, Skylar Spence and Allie Dimmick are all members of BVC Force who placed seventh out of 28 teams at provincials this year in their age class.

The team has two Grade 12 players. Jadie Fennig has proven herself at the net as a middle blocker. Jadie is one of the Vikings' best offensive players. Shallen McNabb in her final season has been an effective power hitter and defensive player. She hits a powerful ball, but also knows when to change it up.

Their coach says the girls have made it their goal to get to Provincials this year and have worked hard.

"We are very close with the top teams and it could go either way," says Friedenstab.

"What it comes down to is what attitude they bring this weekend to regionals. They have

shown me when they believe they can, they get the job done."
