Warrant issued for man in kidnapping investigation

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for a man involved in a kidnapping investigation. Fox Creek RCMP officers responded to a complaint of a woman who was abducted by a man with a firearm shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for a man involved in a kidnapping investigation.


Fox Creek RCMP officers responded to a complaint of a woman who was abducted by a man with a firearm shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4.


The incident started at a business location in the town of Fox Creek, Alta., taking  place between 1 p.m. and the time the female victim manage to escape. The victim and suspect knew each other through business deals. As a result of the investigation, the RCMP have charged 49-year-old David James Rogerson of British Columbia and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued with the following charges:

  • Robbery with a Firearm, section 344 of the Criminal Code
  • Kidnapping with a Firearm, section 279(1.1) of the Criminal Code
  • Unlawful Confinement, section 279(2) of the Criminal Code
  • Assault with a weapon, section 267(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Mischief, section 430(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Utter threats to cause death, section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Use a Firearm in the Commission of an offence, Section 85 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Pointing a Firearm, section 87(2) of the Criminal Code
  • Carry a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing an Offence, Section 88 of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, section 91(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with readily accessible ammunition, section 95(2) of the Criminal Code


Rogerson is described as 5'7" and 200 lbs. He was seen wearing a light brown jacket, blue jeans and was unshaven.


The public is urged not to approach Rogerson as it is believed that he is armed and dangerous. He was last travelling in a black four-door 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with British Columbia licence plate 655 MPR.
