The City of North Battleford's water, sewer and refuse collection bylaws have now come into effect.
Third reading and final passage was granted to the bylaws Monday to set the new rates. The bylaws were introduced Jan. 9 and passed two readings.
The three bylaws amend existing bylaws on the books to set the rates for water, sewer and sanitation. With passage of the three bylaws, the new rates now come into effect. Consumers using 25 cubic meters will see their water rate increase 3.4 per cent, while their sanitary sewage rates would go up 2.9 per cent. Residential pickup will go up by $1 per residential unit.
Still to come to council are bylaws setting the mill rate for the city. A 3.9 per cent property tax increase is proposed. Those bylaws are likely to be introduced at council early next month.
