WaterMark Consulting Ltd. has been awarded the contract for engineering services for the drilling and development of three new groundwater wells at the groundwater treatment plant in North Battleford.

WaterMark Consulting Ltd. has been awarded the contract for engineering services for the drilling and development of three new groundwater wells at the groundwater treatment plant in North Battleford.

The contract was awarded unanimously at last Monday's council meeting. The contract is for the amount of $43,122 plus taxes.

WaterMark Consulting Ltd. was the same company that had conducted a review of groundwater wells in the city in 2010. They reported back to council that the existing groundwater aquifer is adequate to support the present and future needs of the groundwater treatment plant.

The new water wells are required due to additional capacity with the expansion of Water Treatment Plant No. 1 to treat an additional 600 imperial gallons per minute of raw water. Council has already awarded the contract for the drilling program to Elk Point Drilling for $152,774 at their Jan. 10 meeting.
