Dear humboldtjournal.ca and East Central Recorder Readers:
In one form or other, the East Central Recorder has been an integral part of east central Saskatchewan communities for more than a century.
There’s not many papers that do what we do: focus on local news, events and sports within a massive area that goes from Nipawin in the north to Drake in the south, Colonsay in the west to Porcupine Plain in the east. We cover communities as large as Humboldt, Melfort, Nipawin and Tisdale and as small – actually even smaller – than Bjorkdale and Viscount.
We deliver the paper to this large area each week, update our website at humboldtjournal.ca each day, all at no cost to you.
Yet it still costs money to pay for journalists, websites, printing, deliver and all of the other things we must do to stay open.
Times are changing and the business model that has sustained this newspaper for many years must also adapt in order to ensure the Recorder is a sustainable enterprise into the future. Our advertisers can no longer shoulder the entire burden.
And at the time where you need us most, to keep you up to date with the COVID-19 pandemic, our advertisers are less able to shoulder the burden than ever before. No matter who we are, we are all affected by the pandemic.
That’s why we’re asking you to become a supporter.
A monthly donation of $5 will help us get through the pandemic and get the revenue we need to improve our coverage of east central Saskatchewan in the paper and online. If you want to, there’s the option to donate more. If you can only afford a one-time donation of $5, $15 or $50 right now, we’ll also be thankful for that.
Let me stress this is entirely voluntary. We want everybody, regardless of where they live in our region or what they can afford to pay, to be able to get our news.
If you like what we do, please support us.
