NORTH BATTLEFORD - A Wilkie man facing numerous weapons counts will see his matters return to North Battleford court on Jan. 4.

Darryll Sollosy made another video appearance in provincial court Thursday on several charges originating from a June incident in Scott, Saskatchewan. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, careless transportation of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon without a licence, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a prohibited firearm in a vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm that is not registered, possession of break and enter instruments, and other charges including operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

The case has been before the court several times over the last few weeks and one of the stumbling blocks had been issues Sollosy has faced in securing counsel. He had gone through a series of lawyers over the last several months, most recently retaining Aleida Oberholzer to handle a recent detention hearing. Sollosy had indicated a preference to retain either Legal Aid representation or a court-appointed lawyer going forward.

It now appears the representation issue has been sorted out: the indication Thursday is that Legal Aid plans to supply a lawyer to Sollosy who will represent him at his next appearance on Jan. 4. That next appearance will again be by video from custody in Saskatoon.
