A northern Saskatchewan woman charged with organized crime offences had another court appearance in a Prince Albert court July 24.
Shania Yooya, 24, is charged with trafficking a controlled substance for a criminal organization, uttering threats for a criminal organization, and conspiracy to commit assault for a criminal organization.
The RCMP Crime Reduction Team arrested Yooya and four others after a five-month investigation into organized crime in Prince Albert. Their investigation started in October 2019 and lasted until February 2020.
The Crime Reduction Team raided a home on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation and seized weapons and drugs. Yooya was arrested at the residence.
The round up also included the arrests of Jesse Dillon, 28, from Onion Lake Cree Nation, Raini Henderson, 30, of Nipawin, Brennen Sanderson, 27, of Sturgeon Lake, and Shannon Sanderson, 29, of Sturgeon Lake.
When Dillon was arrested police found him at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre and they located Henderson locked up at the Prince Albert Provincial Correctional Centre.
Henderson is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Sept. 14.
Brennen Sanderson is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Aug. 24.
Shannon Sanderson failed to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court in March and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest. She remains at large.
Dillon had an appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court July 13 and elected to be tried by Court of Queen’s Bench judge alone.
Yooya’s matter was adjourned until Aug. 20.
Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is about 29 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
