Woman facing organized crime charges in P.A. still evading police

Warrant for arrest has been issued

PRINCE ALBERT – A Sturgeon Lake woman charged with facilitating the activities of a criminal organization is still wanted by police after she failed to appear in court last year.

Shannon Sanderson, now 30, failed to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court in April 2020 and a warrant for her arrest was issued. According to court records, Sanderson still hasn’t been re-arrested.

Sanderson was arrested following an eight-month investigation into organized crime in Prince Albert.

Police also arrested Brennan Sanderson of Sturgeon Lake, Jesse Dillon of Onion Lake, Shania Yooya of Sturgeon Lake, and Raini Henderson of Nipawin. Henderson was arrested at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre in May 2020, and Dillon was arrested at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre in April 2020.

Dillon appears next in Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench on Sept. 29 to speak to the matter. He is charged with recruiting for a criminal organization, trafficking a controlled substance for a criminal organization, uttering threats for a criminal organization, and conspiracy to commit assault for a criminal organization. He is also charged with numerous firearms offences, fabricating evidence, trafficking in methamphetamine and obstruction of justice.

The organized crime charges against Henderson were stayed in March of this year but he appears next in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Sept. 23 on other charges.

The jury trial for Yooya was scheduled to start Sept. 7 in Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench but was adjourned to June 7, 2022, at defence’s request. She is charged with trafficking a controlled substance for a criminal organization, uttering threats for a criminal organization, and conspiracy to commit assault for a criminal organization.

Brennan Sanderson appears next in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Oct. 5. He is charged with facilitating the activities of a criminal organization and seven weapons related offences.

The charges against the accused haven’t been proven in court.
