MEADOW LAKE — The body of a woman has been recovered now that heavy equipment operators have been able to remove a submerged truck from Beaver River, according to RCMP.

The body is that of a 20-year-old from the Dillon area who had been unaccounted for since the truck entered the river the night of Aug. 24.

RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover involving a truck around 7 p.m. The truck had driven off the bridge on Highway 903 approximately two kilometres south of Pagan Lake and was completely submerged in the Beaver River.

RCMP say an adult male standing on top of the submerged vehicle was pulled by RCMP officers to shore with a rope. He was transported to hospital with injuries.

One adult female was unaccounted for at the time. Due to the water current and depth (approximately 9-10 feet deep), first responders were unable to enter the river safely to search inside the truck.

First responders began working to remove the truck from the river and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was deployed to assist with the ongoing search in the water.

RCMP Collision Reconstruction and Meadow Lake General Investigation Section continue to investigate with the assistance of Meadow Lake RCMP.
