As manager of the Humboldt Commons, Mel Lamb has been watching the project take shape over the past couple of months.
Now the project is reaching completion with contractor Dave Ireland and his crew putting the final touches on the first store space.
By June 1, Dollarama will be given the keys to their new establishment on the west side of the construction, says Lamb. They will be completing their fixturing before opening up in the coming summer months.
Warehouse One and The Source will soon be following them, he says.
Everything is on schedule, he says, and you cannot ask for more than that.
The journey itself has been fun for Lamb, especially since he will be retiring by the end of August.
He could think of no better way to retire than to see the Humboldt Mall transform into what it is becoming.
However, half of the space is still available to potential renters with space available for stores of any size from 2,000 square feet and up.
While Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce executive director, Stacey Poss, is proud of the businesses for making the move within the mall, she says this is also an opportunity to fill some gaps in Humboldt’s retail community.
“Our members have shared what and where some of those gaps are…we look forward to moving forward on that and potentially working with the city to promote and attract businesses to Humboldt
and area.”
