Youth admit to property crimes

Loon Lake RCMP are unable to lay charges against four youth under the age of 12 they suspect are involved in rash of break and enters and car vandalism in the village during the month of September.

One other youth, who is over the age of 12, has been charged with several counts of mischief and will be appearing in Loon Lake court in the near future.

RCMP say all the youth were spoken to and admitted to their involvement in the crimes.

Roughly 25 cars had windows smashed during the month. Owners reported nothing stolen, but claimed the vehicles were rifled through.

RCMP say there is usually an increase in property crimes around the resorts at this time of year when the cabin owners leave the area,

Sept. 12 the Loon Lake detachment received roughly 30 complaints of break and enters at the Makwa Lake Resort. Both sheds and cabins were broken into. The investigations are ongoing.

The Loon Lake RCMP are also asking for the public to report any suspicious activity whether it is in the village of Loon Lake or around the cabins in the resort.
