A 16-year-old youth was due in provincial court following an incident in which a vehicle struck an apartment building on Winder Crescent early Wednesday.
The youth was remanded in custody on charges of flight, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, mischief over $5,000, mischief under $5,000, impaired driving and seven counts of breach of probation.
He was due to appear in court Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
The incident took place around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the RCMP.
According to police, they first received a call shortly after 4 a.m. of an erratic driver in the area of 11th Avenue and 108th Street.
RCMP members located the vehicle, but it failed to stop for police, and police say no pursuit was initiated.
About 30 minutes later, police received a second call about a vehicle crashing into an apartment building on the corner of 15th Avenue and Winder Crescent.
According to police, the driver had fled the scene, but was arrested a short distance away. Police reported the youth was found to be intoxicated.
The vehicle involved in this matter was later discovered to have been stolen.
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
