Blake Robertson had a year like no other - besides playing on the Battlefords Bantam AA Barons hockey team in the winter, he accomplished successes in another sport he loves - baseball.
Blake not only got picked up to play with the Lloydminster AAA Twins, who won the provincial title, he was also part of the gold medal winning Saskatchewan Summer Games team.
The baseball season didn't end there, the provincial winning Twins earned a spot at nationals in Vaughn, Ont. the last week of August.
The Twins went 2-4 during the national championship, not exactly what they had hoped for, but Robertson's play didn't go unnoticed.
"Individually, I hit the best I had the whole weekend mainly playing third base," explained Blake. "I did make a start on the mound and picked up the MVP award that game. I also collected the defensive player of the game in our match against B.C., as I caught the majority of the game."
The overall experience was terrific said Blake, who had little time to rest and recover before his latest baseball adventure.
He was back on a plan with Team Saskatchewan for the Labour Day long weekend and went to the Baseball Prospect Series in Winnipeg.
"The prospect series in Winnipeg was again a really high level of ball and it really improved me, because I played positions I have never played before," said Blake.
Now that an entire spring and summer have been dedicated to baseball, Blake heads straight to the football field for the Unity Comprehensive High School Warriors and soon the hockey rink.
