HUMBOLDT — They left Humboldt to compete – and returned with victory.
At a Humboldt Broncos game on Jan. 28, the hockey team and the City of Humboldt recognized those that had won awards on the provincial, national and world stage.
“Our community is very pleased to be able to honour the individuals that achieved these awards over the last year,” said Rob Muench, Humboldt’s mayor. “We recognize the achievements are the result of talent, dedication and hard work.”
Those recognized included Tia Zimmerman, who swam in the Special Olympics World Summer Games, Sam Fisher; who received five swimming medals at the Western Canadians; Eliot Cline, Erin Cline, Easton Gosselin and Danica Leonard, who received nationals medals in karate; Braden Fleischhacker, who got a U18 national men’s curling silver; and Mary Millette, who got a national silver in gymnastics.
“When you go from here, always remember where you came from and all of those that helped you along the way: our parents, teachers and coaches,” Muench said.
