One of the four Saskatchewan men’s provincial tankard berths available at this weekend’s Northern qualifier will be clinched Saturday morning at the Twin Rivers Curling Club.

Scott Comford’s Wadena rink and Drew Heidt’s North Battleford foursome will be squaring off at 9 a.m. in the ‘A’ event final, with the winner advancing to the provincial playdowns in Tisdale next month.

The loser of the game will still be alive in the triple knockout event, as they’ll fall to the ‘B’ event.

Heidt, who is joined on his team by third Jesse St. John, second Cole Tenetiuk and lead Chadd McKenzie, have won three games they’ve played so far and advanced to the ‘A’ final after an 8-4 victory over Saskatoon’s Brady Scharback Friday afternoon.

The Comfort rink, which includes third Chad Moir, second Dustin Mikiush and lead Lee Johnson, also have a 3-0 record and are coming off of a convincing 8-3 triumph over Lashburn’s Ryan Armstrong.

A total of 19 rinks are competing at the event, which wraps up Sunday afternoon.
