The Battleford Atom AA Barons defended home ice last weekend. The Barons won the A side championship of the Battleford Atom AA Barons Tier 1 Tournament at the Battleford Arena.
In their first game, the Barons dropped a 7-2 decision to the Saskatoon Bobcat Atom Heat Friday night. Battleford responded with a 10-1 win over the Prince Albert Canadians Saturday afternoon to finish second in their pool.
In the semifinal, the Barons faced off against the Prince Albert Thunder, who finished first in the B side pool. Battleford defeated the Thunder 8-2 en route to the A side final.
The Heat, who were undefeated in the tournament, met the Barons in the final. Battleford got revenge for their Friday night loss by beating Saskatoon 7-2 to capture the A side championship in front of a packed arena supporting their hometown team.
