Andrew Albers made his third start and fourth appearance of the 2012 baseball season with the New Britain Rock Cats Saturday and appears to be now in mid-season form.
Albers earned his first win of the season with a seven inning effort allowing five hits, one run, no walks and striking out seven.
Albers, the North Battleford product, is in his second season in the Minnesota Twins organization and after making a relief appearance April 7 has started three games since.
Albers' most recent start helped him earn the Allstate player of the game honour, as the best Rock Cat Saturday. Albers also helped the team move back into first place in the Eastern League for the time being, as New Britain improved to 12-5.
Albers is scheduled to start for the Rock Cats again this weekend, likely Saturday.
Through the first 17 games of the season Albers stat line reads - one win, a 4.05 earned run average, 20 innings pitched, 21 hits allowed, nine runs surrendered, 16 strikeouts and an opponents' average of .276.
