All teams in action in SPHL

Eight games have been played in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League and all eight teams have at least one game under their belts. Glaslyn's first game of the season was Wednesday in Battleford against the Beaver Blues.

Eight games have been played in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League and all eight teams have at least one game under their belts.

Glaslyn's first game of the season was Wednesday in Battleford against the Beaver Blues.

Jordan Keller, who is in his first season with the Beaver Blues, was on the right wing on the first line and scored twice, as Battleford won 4-1.

Brett Michnik and Jody Rudyck scored the other goals for the Beaver Blues. Glaslyn grabbed the 1-0 lead on a goal by Trent McNabb, but that was their only offence on the night.

The Beaver Blues failed to put the game out of reach, as Glaslyn took seven penalties in the second period, but they did enough to earn their second win of the season.

Also at two wins on the season are the Spiritwood Timberwolves. Sunday, the Timberwolves were in Cut Knife and suffered their first loss of the season by a 6-3 score.

Brayden Bertoia scored twice for the Colts while Brad Duncan, Gino Frank, Ashton Hewson and Quentin Starchief scored once.

Colten Anderson scored twice for Spiritwood and Ryan Turgeon had the other.

The Colts are first in the standings with a 3-0 record.

Cut Knife also scored six times on Radisson on the weekend with six different goal scorers. Kendal Albert, Hewson, Clayton Kam, Kirk MacDonald, Starchief and Wes Tuplin were all credited with goals. Dallas Sperle earned the shutout in the Colts' net.

Also Friday, Hafford played in Perdue in what turned out to be a high-scoring affair. Hafford pulled out the 11-8 win. Kyle Rivett had two goals and five assists while Shane Gopher netted four goals and had one assist for Hafford. Ryan Scheafer also scored twice and had two assists.

Clark McNulty had two goals and two assists for Perdue.

Saturday, Perdue lost 5-2 in Battleford. This time Kevin Fick scored twice for Perdue while Scott Maunula and Brent Salzl scored two goals each for the Beaver Blues. Keegan Sparrow had the other goal for Battleford.

The other game on the weekend had Spiritwood down Maymont 10-2. The Timberwolves were led by Kyle Brataschuk, who had four goals and an assist.
