Here are the results for area teams at various regional basketball tournaments over the weekend. Teams advancing to Hoopla will be playing this upcoming weekend in Regina.
1A Boys:
Lake Lenore lost in the first round of the regional playoffs, 82-50 to Hepburn. The team lost their consolation matchup with Kerrobert, 52-39.
The Middle Lake Avengers advanced to Hoopla and will play against Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute on March 14 at 12:45 p.m. At their regional tournament, Middle Lake snuck by Rosthern Junior College, 64-62, before defeating Wolseley 70-47 to punch their ticket to Hoopla.
1A Girls:
Lake Lenore won their first game at regionals, 61-35 over Central Butte. They then fell to Regina Harvest City, 76-62, in the final.
Middle Lake continued its great weekend when the girls advanced to Hoopla by defeating Langenburg (85-41) and Herbert (64-33). Middle Lake will open its Hoopla schedule by taking on Regina Harvest City at noon on March 14.
2A Boys:
St. Brieux advanced to Hoopla by defeating Waldheim before taking a close game in the regional final against Beauval. St. Brieux won 80-68 and will play Saskatoon Legacy Christian on March 14 at noon for their first game at Hoopla.
2A Girls:
Foam Lake advanced to Hoopla in dominant fashion, beating Hudson Bay and Regina Christian by an average of 46 points. They will play Langham on March 14 at noon in their first Hoopla action.
Wynyard also advanced to Hoopla, easily dispatching Creighton before taking care of Asquith to move on to Regina. Wynyard will play Shaunavon on March 14 at noon.
3A Boys:
Watrous lost their opening game at regionals, 101-40 to Regina Harvest City. In the consolation game, Watrous lost 74-52 to Kindersley.
The HCI Mohawks opened their regional tournament in impressive fashion, beating Unity 104-37 and setting up a final against Indian Head. In a hard-fought affair, Indian Head came out on top, 52-43, ending Humboldt's season one game short of a berth to Hoopla.
4A Girls:
Melfort opened their regional tournament with an 84-42 loss to Warman. The girls then defeated HCI 46-41 in a consolation match.
The HCI team lost to Prince Albert Carlton 63-42 before dropping the aforementioned game to Melfort.
4A Boys:
Melfort advanced to the regional final with an 81-73 win over Moose Jaw Vanier before falling to Weyburn, 74-62.
