Those at Frontier Mall on Saturday got to see an armful of arm-wrestling action.

The Saskatchewan Arm Wrestling Association held its Annual Fit II Fight Arm Wrestling Circuit Tournament.

There were two tournament divisions happening on the weekend - one for the left-handed and another for the right-handed champions. Both tournaments were double-elimination rounds, meaning an opponent had to be defeated twice in order to lose.

In the 110-plus kg right-handed category, it was Jason Roy, Sheldon Short, Keenan Kohut and Jon Slobodian doing battle.

Roy, out of Prince Albert, ended up taking down Slobodian in the first round and then defeated Keenan Kohut twice to win the division. Keenan needed to knock off Sheldon Short in the semi final to earn his rematch with Roy in the finals, with Roy taking down the right-handed title.

Three individuals competed in the 110-plus left-handed division: Roy, Short and Vincent Kohut.

With Roy having defeated Short en route to the final, it was up to Short and Kohut to do battle in the semi-final.

Kohut scored that victory and that set up a hard-fought final between Kohut and Roy. In the end it was Roy who took down Kohut to earn the victory in that class as well.

While Roy ended up sweeping the left-and-right handed title events, both his titles were hard-fought and hard-won, as his opponents in the finals put up a strong effort in the finals before an appreciative audience of onlookers at Frontier Mall.

The circuit now heads to Swift Current Feb. 18 for their next event.
