The Battlefords Atom AA Tier 1 Barons travelled to Medicine Hat, Alta. for the Medicine Hat Atom Tier 1 tournament last weekend. The Barons returned home with the A side championship.
The Barons opened the tournament Friday night with a 6-4 win over the Medicine Hat BlackHawks. The next morning, Battlefords played the Lacombe Rockets to a 0-0 tie. Their final game in group play was against the Medicine Hat Flyers, which they won 8-0. Battlefords finished first in their pool.
They played the Kneehill Atom Chiefs shortly after in the semifinals. The Barons won 6-3, advancing to the A final gold medal game.
In the final Sunday morning, the Barons won a close 9-7 game over the Medicine Hat Jets. Battlefords' goals were scored by Dane Lesmeister, Ty Jack, Konnor Snyder, Mason Russell, Brody Gray, Matthew Dament and Zaden Doke-Poitras, The goals were assisted by Lesmeister, Snyder, Russell, Jace Kramer, Leo Senger and Jaden Sack.
