Ball hockey playoffs underway

There isn't much hockey left in the Battlefords and area, but the Battlefords Ball Hockey League is still rolling. All four series will be playing game two of the best of three series either Wednesday or Thursday at the Agrivilla.

The first place Mid West Warriors finished the regular season with an 11-3 record. The Warriors beat the Angry Beavers 11-1 in game one. The Beavers were 1-13 this season.

Ambush were 10-4 this season, but lost game one of their series 10-7 to the RPG Kickers. The Kickers were 3-11 during the regular season.

The 8-6 Slap Happy team beat the 7-7 Pirates in a high scoring 17-10 game. Slap Happy were the inaugural 2008-09 league champions, while the Pirates won the trophy last season.

The fourth versus fifth series between the BFOF Wings and Outlaws, who both had 8-6 records, produced the closest score of week one of the playoffs, as the Wings won 5-3.

No league awards have been voted on yet or issued, but the stats have been tallied from the regular season. The top goal scorer was Jason Bossaer of Ambush, who had 61 goals in 14 games. Bossaer had 85 points.

Clayton Klein of the Warriors was second in scoring with 60 goals in 14 games and first in points with 98.

Brad Johnson of the Pirates was second in points with 96 in 11 games and had 59 goals.
