The Battlefords Ladies' Fastball League season is coming down to the final stretch, making every game even more important.
Wednesday night saw the Battleford Bantam Bandits take down the Maidstone Ladies in a thriller.
It was obvious the game would be an offensive showdown from the beginning. Both teams put up two runs in the first inning, opening the floodgates.
Maidstone managed to add a third run in the second and also held the Bandits scoreless in the inning.
The game really got going in the third inning. Maidstone put up three runs to give them a 6-2 lead, but the Bandits wouldn't be outdone.
Battleford scored four runs of their own to tie things up and they didn't stop there. After shutting out Maidstone in the fourth, the Bandits added five more runs in their half of the inning as they started running away with the game.
The fifth and sixth innings went by quickly, with just a single run by Battleford pushing the lead to 12-6.
Maidstone came out with a tall task in the seventh needing six runs just to tie. The Ladies got a runner to third base, but that's as close as they came to chipping away at the lead.
Both teams fought hard, but only one could come out with the victory.
There are only three games left on the BLFL schedule before playoffs get underway. The first day of playoffs is set for July 3.
