Bantam Barons head into December at .500

The Battlefords Bantam AA Barons are preparing for the final push of the season before the Christmas break, as they sit at 5-5-0 on the season. The Barons won their last game by a 7-4 score.

The Battlefords Bantam AA Barons are preparing for the final push of the season before the Christmas break, as they sit at 5-5-0 on the season.

The Barons won their last game by a 7-4 score. Friday, Humboldt was in Battleford and they were led by Brandon Lesko, who had two goals and two assists, Jayden Nachtagaele, who had one goal and three assists, and Josh Sielsky, who had a hat trick.

The Barons scored twice early in the first period and led 2-1 after 20 minutes. In the second, both teams scored three goals making it 5-4 heading into the third period. The Barons held on for the win and added two goals late in the third period to secure the victory.

Matthew Flath was the winning goalie making 32 saves while the Barons put 30 shots at the Barons net.

Blake Fennig had the other goal for the Barons on the night.

The Barons .500 record has them in sixth in the North Division in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League.

Lesko leads the Barons in points with 11 goals and 13 assists in 10 games and is sixth in the league.

The Barons will face the West Central Wheat Kings Sunday at the Battleford Arena. The Wheat Kings lead the North Division with a 12-1-1 record this season.
