The Barons II coached by Gary Nolin are battling for the league final in the Hi-Way 14 Hockey League, while the Battlefords Bantam A Barons, which included players from the Nolin's league team, played in the provincial final on the weekend.

The provincial team hosted Yorkton March 18 and lost on home ice 2-1. The Barons went back to Yorkton for the second and final game of the championship series Saturday. The Barons trailed 5-3 with three minutes left in the third period and ended up tying the game 6-6. Yorkton won the series by a goal despite what the coaching staff was a good effort by the Barons.

The Barons II league team beat Kerrobert in double overtime in the second game of the semifinal to advance to the league final. The Barons now play Unity and will be in action in game two of the best-of-seven series Wednesday at the Civic Centre. Game one was Monday in Unity.
