The North Battleford Crackmaster Bantam Beavers' home tournament proved to be a good measuring stick as they move closer to provincials.

The Beavers hosted teams from Kindersley, Saskatoon, Humboldt, Unity, Melfort, Edam and Lloydminster on the weekend at the Lions Diamonds.

The Beavers first game was against Kindersley Friday evening and the home team thumped Kindersley 16-6.

In the second round robin game Saturday morning, the Beavers continued their winning ways with a dominating 26-11 win over Saskatoon.

Later Saturday, North Battleford wrapped up the round robin with a 14-9 loss to Humboldt.

The loss matched the Beavers up against the Melfort Selects Sunday morning in the semi final and it a well-played ball game, the Selects took the 1-0 decision.

Melfort went on to beat Humboldt handily in the final to take the tournament championship.

Next on the schedule for the Beavers is a tournament in Kindersley this weekend.
