It was a beautiful weekend for a baseball tournament.

The Muenster Bantam Red Sox swept the Zone 5 provincial playoffs, winning all three of their games.

"Muenster finished first so we're going to Provincials," said Garrett Korte, coach of the Muenster Bantam Red Sox.

Muenster is not the only team to advance to Provincials. The Lumsden Cubs finished second at the playoffs and will also be advancing to Provincials.

It was a close final game between Lumsden and the Wynyard Blues.

"Lumsden won that one 17-16 if you can believe it," said Korte.

Provincials will be held in Kipling July 16-18.

Korte was thankful the weather stayed agreeable for the playoff weekend.

"We were a little worried Friday night when the thunderstorm went through," said Korte.

He felt they were lucky the fields dried up and the weather stayed agreeable the rest of the weekend.

Muenster hopes to get three to four more games in before Provincials.
