The Battlefords Bantam AA Barons started the regular season on home ice and skated to one win and a loss on the weekend.
The Barons opened the season Friday night in Battleford against Notre Dame and won that game 7-2.
The Barons trailed 1-0, but then scored seven straight goals on their way to the win.
Drake Teer, Karstin McDonald and Owen Lamb scored for the Barons in the first period, as they outshot the Hounds 21-2 through 20 minutes.
In the second, Brandon Lesko scored shorthanded and Kade Mosimann and Jayden Nachtagaele added even strength markers.
Mosimaan scored again in the third with five minutes left in the game.
Notre Dame scored two minutes later.
Dax Desmarais made 24 saves in the win while the Barons fired 36 shots at the Hounds net.
Sunday it was a late goal by West Central's Kolby Johnson that made the difference, as the Barons fell 4-3 to the West Central Wheat Kings.
The Wheat Kings scored three times in the first period, as Kyle Bosch scored twice and Braydon Buziak had the other goal.
Blake Fennig scored for the Barons in the first period.
In the second period scored Fennig scored again, this time on the power play.
In the third period, Mosimann tie the game, but with 2:41 to play the Wheat Kings scored and held on for the win.
Matthew Flath was in net for the Barons and faced 21 shots in the game.
The Barons are at home again this weekend, but play just once. They host the Prairie Storm Friday, who are 2-1-0 on the season.
