Two AA Barons teams have already started their provincial runs.
Sunday, the Battlefords Midget AA Barons hosted North East. On paper it was the eighth place Barons hosting the first place team, but the game was much tighter than the standings would suggest the score would be.
The Barons were tied 1-1 after the first period and eventually lost 3-1 in an intense and exciting game. Battlefords' goal came off the stick of Justin Johannesen late in the first period.
Game two was scheduled for Wednesday in Nipawin.
The Peewee AA Barons entered provincials ranked sixth and were up against Prince Albert who held the third position.
The two teams faced off in Prince Albert Sunday.
Game two goes Wednesday at the Civic Centre at 6:45 p.m.
