The final competitive minor hockey game in the Battlefords was played Sunday at Don Ross Arena.

The Battlefords Bantam A Barons hosted Yorkton in the provincial final. Sunday's game was an evenly-matched, hardworking game ending in a 4-4. Unfortunately for the Barons they lost game one of the series 7-1 and lost the two-game total-goal series 11-5.

In game one, the Barons battled to pull within one goal and trailed 2-1 heading into the third period. One bad period appeared to be their down fall, as they surrendered six goals in the third period of game one including a goal in the final seconds of the game.

The Barons came out strong Sunday in game two, as Rett Taggart started the scoring and finished the game with three goals.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period and was close all the way.

The Barons had a shorter roster for game two with just 12 skaters and two goalies dressed and put up a good fight against Yorkton who had a full roster of 19.

With three minutes left, and nothing to lose at that point, the Barons pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. Yorkton scored in the empty net and that tied the game.

The Barons' roster included Kristian Houk, Braden Rosza, John Mannix, Paul Bubbon, Cody Kalyn, Brett Benoit, Jacob Stynsky, Kage Pooyak, Dalton Dumont, Dylan Schaefer, Gavin Nolin, Brantley Wasmuth, Daray Bonaise, Kody Wolff, Karlen Gardipy and Jared Schmidt.
