Battlefords Orcas capture team award at provincials

The Battlefords Kinsmen Orcas swim team capped off a successful meet at A provincials in Prince Albert Feb. 4 to 6 by winning the small team title with a point total of 185.

The Battlefords Kinsmen Orcas swim team capped off a successful meet at A provincials in Prince Albert Feb. 4 to 6 by winning the small team title with a point total of 185. Moose Jaw placed second with 117 points and the Regina Marlins were third with 115 points.

All members of the Orcas had a great meet achieving 51 personal best times and 14 Battlefords' club records. Also nine individuals had top five finishes at provincials.

Ashton Kryzanowski (girls 16 and over) had four personal best times and one club record, as she finished first in the 200m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 200m individual medley, second in the 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 400m freestyle and third in the 50m backstroke and fourth in the 100m backstroke.

Katie Serhienko (girls 13 to 14) finished with seven personal best times and one club record along with three first place finishes. Katie was first in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 800m freestyle. She was third in the 200m individual medley, fourth in the 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle and fifth in the 50m backstroke.

Luke Hoiland (boys 10 and under) had eight personal best times and six club records, while he finished second in the 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and third in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle.

Mathew Parker (boys 13 to 14) had six club records and six personal best times at provincials. Mathew was first in the 50m breaststroke, third in the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly and fourth in the 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

Alexandria Anderson-Callbeck (girls 13 to 14) earned six personal best times and five top five finishes. Alex was second in the 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle and 400m freestyle, third in the 50m freestyle and fourth in the 200m breaststroke.

Kailyn Anderson (girls 10 and under) swam her way to six personal best times and was second in the 100m butterfly and fifth in the 100m freestyle.

Taylor Parker (boys 10 and under) was third in the 50m breaststroke and had two personal best times.

Holly Kryzanowski (girls 10 and under) had eight personal best times, while she earned fourth place in the 100m individual medley and 100m breaststroke and fifth in the 50m breaststroke.

Cassidy Serhienko (girls 11 to 12) had four personal best times and a fifth place finish in the 200m breaststroke.
