Midget AA Barons

The Barons live for another round in Centre Four Hockey League action. The Barons went up against Meadow Lake Friday and Sunday in the consolation playoffs and lost game one 5-3 in Meadow Lake. Sunday, the Barons rebounded with a convincing 10-5 win to take the series 13-10.

The win advances the Barons to the consolation final where they will face Warman, but no dates have been set for the best-of-three series.

Midget A Barons

After beating the Meadow Lake Storm in the first round of STEP League playoffs, the Barons went up against Spiritwood and fell short with their season ending on the weekend. Spiritwood won game one 6-3 and game two 6-2 earning the series win and advancing to the league final against Edam.

Midget Sharks

Wednesday, the Sharks hosted Biggar and gave the second overall team everything they could handle, but Biggar prevailed with a 5-3 score.

In the return match Sunday, the Sharks were beat 9-2 and knocked down to the B-side round robin playoff.

The Sharks will face Prince Albert, Elrose, North East and one other team yet to be determined in the round robin to finish off their season.

Bantam AA Barons

In a rough and chippie game one, the Barons beat Warman 3-2 Saturday in Battleford. Sunday, back in Warman, the second place Wildcats thumped the Barons 16-1 ending the Barons' season and knocking them out of the first round of playoffs.

Bantam A Barons

The Barons played Kindersley twice last week in Hi-way 14 League playoffs. First, they won 5-2 in Kindersley. Kevin Bendall and Masen Carriere scored twice while Connor Manegre scored once and Taryn Kotchorek earned the win in net.

Sunday, Kindersley was in the Battlefords for game two and again the Barons scored five goals on their way to victory.

Bendall and Carriere again scored two goals each and Bryce Cuthand was the other goal scorer in the 5-1 decision.

The Barons now face off with Kyle in the semi final and at press time, no schedule had been released, but the semi final series needs to be completed by March 20.

Bantam Sharks

The Sharks finished the regular season in second place and had an easy first round matchup with Kindersley. The Sharks won 16-1 in Kindersley Saturday and 13-0 Sunday in the Battlefords to advance to the second round, where they will face either Melfort or Rosthern in the semi final.

Peewee AA Barons

The Barons moved on after winning round three of the provincial playoffs over West Central. They advanced on following a 4-3 overtime win in Kindersley.

Game two did not get off to a great start for the Barons, as they spotted West Central a 2-0 lead in the first. But goals by Jayden Nachtegaele and Brandon Lesko tied it in the first period, and then Blake Oborowsky's unassisted marker early in the second period put the Barons ahead.

West Central tied it in the third period to force overtime. In the extra frame, Blake Fennig proved to be the hero, scoring unassisted giving the Barons a 4-3-overtime victory.

The Barons are now in the provincial northern final against the Saskatoon representative. Tuesday, the Barons hosted Saskatoon and Sunday was game two of the two-game total-goal series in Saskatoon.

In league playoff action, the Barons disposed of Melfort in round one, as they won 6-2 in Melfort and 5-3 in Battleford Sunday. Mathew Flath and Dax Desmarais each earned a win in the series and the Barons now face Lloydminster, who finished first overall in the Centre Four Hockey League regular season.

Peewee Barons

The Barons #1 team edged Meadow Lake Mavericks 6-3 and 4-3 to claim the STEP League B final championship.

Two other Battleford teams had early exits from the A side of the playoff bracket, but the teams have combined for a provincial run. The Barons first provincial action was Tuesday night, as they hosted the La Ronge Braves. The Braves beat the La Ronge Wolves in round one while the Barons had a first round bye and are now playing in the northern final.

Game two of the series is set for Sunday in La Ronge.

Peewee Sharks

The Battlefords Peewee Sharks' playoff run came to an early end last week, as they travelled to Lloydminster. The third place Sharks took on the sixth place Wizard Wells, as just five points separated the two teams in the standings during the regular season. The Wizard Wells were the only team in the league the Sharks hadn't beaten during the regular season.

Saturday at the Don Ross Arena, the Sharks led 4-2 with a minute and a half left in the third period, but surrendered two late goals and another in overtime falling lost 5-4.

Caitin Edwards led the Sharks' scoring with two goals and an assist. Morgan Lamontagne and Jordyn Tuck added singles.

Game two was again close, as the two teams entered the third period tied 0-0. An early third period goal proved to be the winner for Lloydminster as they held on for a 1-0 victory.

The girls will play a series of exhibition games through the month of March before ending their season while attending the March Ice Tournament in Saskatoon March 25 to 27.
