A group of young curlers from the Battlefords have had an impressive season and their run continued on the weekend in Birch Hills.

Cole Tenetiuk, Alison Ingram, Lisa Chambers and Morgan Hadley represented the Battlefords at the Provincial Juvenile Open Championship.

Tenetiuk and his rink went 4-0 on the weekend and captured the provincial trophy.

In the team's first game Friday, they earned an 8-4 win over Tristan Roske of Regina. Three-point first and sixth ends helped the team start off the weekend with a win.

Tenetiuk carried that momentum into their second game, as they beat Wesley Smith of Debden 11-1 Saturday morning.

Saturday evening, Tenetuik's rink continued their winning ways with an 8-6 win over Kyla Collins of Rosetown.

Sunday's game between the Battleford rink and the Estevan rink skipped by Colby Fessler featured two 3-0 teams. The winner would take first place in provincials.

Tenetiuk scored singles in the first and seventh ends, but it was a four-point fourth end that sealed the victory and the 6-3 win for the provincial title.

Also in Birch Hills looking for the Women's Juvenile Provincial Championship was the Battleford rink of Morgan Nyholt, Blayne Nichol, Mercede Amos and Lindsey Nyholt.

The young Battlefords rink was one of eight battling for a provincial title, but they lost 8-4, 8-2 and 7-5 to be knocked out of the tournament Sunday.

At the Men's Juvenile Provincial Championship, Troy Salzl-Borzel, Jared Latos, Evan Latos and Brody Kimmel of Turtleford went 3-3 before being eliminated in the C bracket.

Salzl-Borzel won their first game, but lost their second to drop to the B event. There the Turtleford team won two straight games and advanced to the B event final, but lost in an extra end. They couldn't recover as they were later knocked out of the C event and the tournament and missed the page playoff round.
