Beaver Blues and Settlers undefeated

Two of the eight teams in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League are perfect heading into the Christmas break. The Battleford Beaver Blues are 4-0-0-0 on the season with their most recent wins coming by 14-4 and 13-4 scores.

The Battleford Beaver Blues are 4-0-0-0 on the season with their most recent wins coming by 14-4 and 13-4 scores. Maymont also earned two wins on the weekend to improved to 6-0-0-0

The Beaver Blues beat Perdue Saturday 14-4 with Martin Smith leading the offence, as he collected four goals and four assists. Mitch Phillips had two goals and three assists, as did Keegan Sparrow. Devin Esquirol had four goals, Les Taylor had five assists and Scott Maunula chipped in with a goal and two assists while Mitch Hawtin earned the win.

Clark McNulty had two goals for Perdue.

Monday, the Beaver Blues scored on the first shift of the game against Saulteaux and never looked back. Smith, Philips, Brett Michnik, and Roddy Hoffman all had two goals in the win in front of Jon Rose.

Saturday in Maymont, the Settlers stretched their winning streak to six games with a 9-2 win over Radisson. Ryan Baptiste had the hat trick while Chad Bernier and Wade Wakelin had two goals each. Kenton Albert and Kinley Sevick were the other goal scorers while Shane Chicoine was the winning goalie.

Andrew Peeyachew had two goals for Radisson.

Friday, Maymont edged Saulteaux 6-4, as the 3 Stars had just nine skaters. Jeff Swain and Sevick had four points each for the Settlers.

Also Friday, Hafford beat Cut Knife 6-4 in their first senior game in more than a decade and Glaslyn beat Radisson by the same 6-4 score.

SPHL games continue with just two games Friday night, as the Cut Knife Colts host the Glaslyn North Stars and Perdue hosts Saulteaux. The Battlefords Beaver Blues game against Radisson is postponed.
