The first Beavers run of the game comes home to score Thursday night against the Standard Hill Lakers. That was one of only a few Beavers highlights as the Lakers romped 17-10.

Coming off their 9-5 win at home versus the Midwest Expos, the North Battleford Beavers looked to extend their winning ways against the Standard Hill Lakers.

The game was Thursday night at Beaver Lions Stadium and, like the Tuesday contest, it it was a high-scoring affair.

Too high-scoring as it turned out. The Beavers scored 10 runs, but that was far from good enough in a 17-10 defeat.

Standard Hill took a 3-0 lead in the first inning before the Beavers scored two in the bottom of the first to cut it to 3-2.

A triple followed by a wild pitch brought home the fourth Standard Hill run in the third. Then in the fourth, the Lakers exploded, adding seven runs for an 11-2 lead.

The Beavers got three back in the bottom of the fourth, and three more in the fifth to make it 13-8. But a four-run sixth for the Lakers finally put the game out of reach.

With the loss, the Beavers dropped to 3-3 on the season.

It was a busy week of play throughout the NSRBL. Tuesday action saw the Lloydminster Redhawks beat St. Walburg Reds by a 12-8 score.

Meanwhile the Wilkie Brewers beat the Lloydminster Twins 5-4.

In Colliar division action, Macklin Lakers beat the Unity Cardinals 11-7.

In Smith division play Tuesday, Edam Blue Sox beat Meadow Lake Sox 5-4.

On Wednesday night, the Border City Blue Jays hammered the Mervin Flyers by a 16-1 score.

Other action Thursday saw Macklin Lakers win 4-0 over Mervin Flyers, and Unity Cardinals beat Lloydminster Twins 4-1.
