The Battleford Midget Bandits needed just a single inning's worth of offence to take down the Survivors Wednesday night at the Battleford flats.

The Battlefords Ladies' Fastball League game got off to a quick start. The first inning went scoreless, but there was plenty of offence in the second.

The Survivors put up a single run, giving them the early lead. The Bandits followed with an offensive explosion, scoring seven runs before being stopped by the single inning run limit.

Unfortunately for Battleford, that would be all the offence they would muster for the rest of the game.

The Survivors came back with another run in the fourth, then added three more in the fifth, bringing them to within two runs. They threatened in the sixth and seventh, but some stingy defence and pitching from the Bandits held off any late rallies.

In the only other game Wednesday, the Battleford Bantams took down the Unity Bantams by a score of 17-0. The Unity Midgets and Edam Ladies game was postponed for June 26, the designated day for makeup games.

There's less than a month left before the playoffs get underway, and one team is running away with things. The Unity Midgets are 7-0 to start the year and have put up double-digit runs in many of their games.

The two Battleford teams are in a tie for second place, but the Midgets team has played two fewer games.

Rounding out the standings, the Edam Ladies, Maidstone Ladies and Survivors are in a tie for third and the Unity Bantams are sitting in fourth.
