The high-school football season is underway in North Battleford and along with the new rosters and fresh starts to the seasons, there is something else new for 2012.
The score clock positioned at Beaver Lions Stadium during North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings' and John Paul II Crusaders' games is a new feature.
The score clock will also be used by the Battleford Minor Football program, which received the grant funding for the clock.
Through the Saskatchewan Roughrider Centennial Legacy Fund BMF purchased a new wireless clock. BMF received a $7,800 grant.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders Centennial Legacy Fund consists of profits generated from the Riders' centennial celebrations held throughout 2010. The funds established were dedicated to help amateur football programs throughout Saskatchewan.
A committee was formed in partnership with Football Saskatchewan to apply guidelines for making the decisions on grants. Taken into account were the number of players and levels of football reached with the grant. Also the amount of community commitment, donations and fundraising were considered. The impact to the community was also taken into account.
