Connor Creech backstopped the Battlefords North Stars to a 31-save shutout and a 1-0 win Sunday in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action.
The North Stars were on the road to face Humboldt in a preview of what could be the Broncos' first playoff series.
Seven minutes into the game, North Stars forward Blake Young scored a power play goal from Luke McColgan and Braeden Johnson. That would be the only goal of the game and ultimately the only one the North Stars needed.
Creech earned his 18th win and second shutout of the season while the North Stars improved to 25-19-2-5 on the season.
The North Stars fired 23 shots at Matt Hrynkiw and were 1/3 with the man advantage while Humboldt was 0/4.
The next action for the North Stars is Friday, their final home game of the regular season against Nipawin. They will also play Saturday in Melville and Sunday in Yorkton.
